Tell us about the presentation you have planned for MozCon.

I’m going to talk about how the right content at the right time and the right metrics tracked with the right tools drives ThinkGeek’s social program. Thinking Big: An Interview with #MozCon Speaker Kyle Rush

Posted by Erica McGillivray

Kyle Rush When we sat down in our big MozCon command room — think the Enterprise-D’s swank Observation Lounge — we knew we wanted to bring someone who’d worked for the Obama re-election campaign to MozCon. Why? Because no matter your flavor of politics, the re-election campaign was full of internet marketing brilliance and used big data to connect with its audience in a way that affected the world. This is what we’re all trying to do, right?

When we sent feelers out, Kyle Rush answered our call. He served as deputy director of frontend web development for the Obama for America campaign. Kyle’s currently director of technology at The New Yorker, and he’ll be speaking about how to “Win Through Optimization and Testing” at MozCon, July 8-10. You don’t want to miss this advice about testing and conversion rate optimization. You can follow Kyle on Twitter @kylerush and on his blog.

How did you come to work for the Obama for America campaign?

I’ve always been interested in technology since a young age. In junior high, I would spend all of my free time on the family computer making websites. In my second … Read the rest

The New Science of Web Psychology: Interview with Nathalie Nahai

Posted by Erica McGillivray

Nathalie NahaiWe all want to influence our customers and our clients to follow the path to conversion. But what if that path fails to draw them in? That’s where Nathalie Nahai, the web psychologist, comes into play. She helps nudge your audience toward the right path and make your goals in Google Analytics happy, not to mention your boss or clients.

Nathalie recently authored the new book Webs of Influence: The Psychology of Online Persuasion. We were so impressed with Nathalie that we invited her to speak at this year’s MozCon, July 8th-10th in Seattle. Get your ticket today because you don’t want to miss this:

How’d you get your start working in inbound marketing as a psychologist?

I have a mixed background in psychology, the arts, and web design, and it wasn’t until I met some of the digi/tech entrepreneurs in East London that I even considered applying my psychology to online interaction. I became curious about how we’re influenced online and started looking for books on the subject. When I realised that there was a huge gap in the market, I decided to write the book myself. That was the real … Read the rest

#MozCon Speaker Interview: Aleyda Solis

Posted by Lindsay

Today I’m pleased to bring you Aleyda Solis, Madrid-based International SEO at SEER Interactive, a Moz Associate, and State of Search blogger. We’re excited that she’s bringing her international perspective to MozCon, where she’ll lay out how to make the bold but lucrative move into the international market. You definitely don’t want to miss her talk, “International SEO and the Future of Your ROI,” if you’re interested in growing your online business.

Tell us about the presentation you have planned for MozCon.

It’s going to be an exciting adventure, guiding the audience to discover their international SEO potential and what could be the future of their ROI.

It will be beyond the “ccTLDs vs. subdirectories for country targeting” type of session (although best practices with examples and tactics will be also shared). It’s meant to answer frequent questions I get from strategic, operations, and business perspectives, like: “How do I connect with international audiences and develop an attractive offer and assets when I don’t even speak the language or know anything about the country?” Or, “How can I develop original, localized content for all of these non-English websites if I don’t have … Read the rest

#MozCon Speaker Interview: Karen McGrane

Posted by Erica McGillivray

Karen McGrane I’m really excited that we’re bringing Karen McGrane, CEO at Bond Art + Science, to this year’s MozCon. A veteran of the content world, she’s a champion of making great content accessible to your audience. Karen proclaims that mobile is the best thing that’s ever happened for content. In fact, she wrote a book on it. She’ll be talking “The Mobile Content Mandate” at MozCon, and you won’t want to miss it.

When Karen’s not rooting for seamless content across all devices, you might find her on Twitter @karenmcgrane and maybe chatting about artichokes. Which as I interviewed her, I wanted to know more about both.

What’s inspired you lately?

I always get a huge burst of energy at this time of year. My birthday is April, and springtime always feels like a fresh start. I like to work outside on my terrace when the weather starts getting warm. I’m sitting outside right now! It feels like a good way to get things done and pretend that I’m on vacation at the same time.

Since you’ll be talking about mobile content strategy at MozCon this year, what mobile devices are your Read the rest
