However, marketing and optimization can sometimes only be half the battle when it comes to generating business for clients.

This week, we’ll address some articles we’ve come across that share some key things we can do to keep the traffic coming. These are things that anyone with their own website can do to go beyond marketing tactics and SEO strategy to help boost sales.

Knowing What Users Experience is Key

Everything a visitor sees on a website – what they read, calls to action, menus, links, etc. – they all matter to a user and all play a role in what someone will do once they get to a website.

After visiting the insightful blog over at MOZ, we learned that when hoping to improve the … Read the rest

There have been a lot of things happening in the last week on the SEO front. Between Google making some fairly significant changes to how they display authorship snippets in its results pages and some interesting studies on the impact search engine optimization really has on your traffic. We also take a look at a great article on how to balance your time between more conventional SEO processes and content marketing.

What does “Direct” traffic really mean, anyway? It’s often just a repository for the traffic that is, for one reason or another, hard to classify. Over the years, there have been a lot of things that have changed the way many analytics programs report this traffic. Everything from Google’s shift to encrypted search to browsers simply not reporting where a user came from can change how direct traffic is reported.

It turns out, though, that a huge portion of this … Read the rest

Well, it’s official: Hell has finally frozen over OR Andy has decided to give me another shot at coming up with this week’s Online Content Collective for the SEO.com blog. I’m going to guess it’s both a little of column A and a bit of column B because I hear that when it’s summer here, it’s winter in Hell. WINTER IS COMING.

With that plug for the fabulous skiing in Hell out of the way, let’s get down to the business of the OCC. I tend to gravitate more towards the social side of things and frankly, I’m fascinated with the continuous outpouring of marketing trends moving towards social media. If you are any type of consumer, then social media has become a regular “habit” of your daily life. If it’s not checking your Facebook or Twitter profiles, then it’s posting your recent vacation pictures on Instagram. So, how do companies take advantage of these social outlets to create a stronger presence online and … Read the rest

This week’s Online Content Collective is all about getting more from your content marketing – with an emphasis on blogging. As more and more companies commit to larger content marketing campaigns, you need to do what you can to stand out. If you’re going to commit to a blogging schedule, you also need to know whether or not your efforts are paying off. Plan out your campaign, measure the results, and keep finding new ways to improve.

30 Stellar Blog Tips for Posts Your Audience Loves

We all know bloggers out there who judge their self worth by the number of new and returning visitors to each and every post. It’s a codependent relationship, to be sure, but as long as you’re focusing on raising those numbers through better blogs, psychologically speaking, you’re probably okay.

Achieving a Balanced Marketing Approach

Trends in the marketing industry, especially online marketing, are subject to steady and sometimes rapid change. Old strategies lose their effectiveness and in some cases harm the long-term success of a marketing campaign.
